Frequently Asked Questions

Beautiful Gate Center is conveniently located at 3107 Meeting Street Road in North Charleston, SC. Our centralized location is easily accessible to families across the Charleston tri-county region.

Our center-based developmental learning center & day treatment program is designed to meet the needs of children and youth who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe disabling conditions resulting in cognitive/intellectual delay, non-verbal or limited functional communication, delays in life skill areas and challenging behaviors that inhibit learning and skill acquisition.

The client in-take process begins with a referral from your child’s pediatrician or family doctor to receive ABA, Speech or Occupational Therapy. Once you have the referral sent to us, please contact our office to schedule your child’s therapeutic evaluation. You may fax the referral to us at: 843-654-1903.

The admissions process begins with the completion of our online Pre-Admissions Form.  Parents are also invited to contact our office for more information.

The BGC center-based program serves participants ages 3 to 21 years old.  Participants in our program, depending upon their birth age, would be placed into their age-appropriate group at time of enrollment.

At this time, we are unable to provide Physical Therapy or Rehabilitative services in our clinic or center-based program. We recommend families to contact Pattison’s Academy in Charleston, SC to access these services in an educational setting.

Beautiful Gate Center is not a school. Rather, our team provides services in a therapeutic day treatment setting. As an alternative education placement, BGC is focused on providing a wide range of services and therapies in a 1:1 or 2:1 environment to support both the educational and therapeutic needs of each participant.

Each participant’s individual treatment plan will include special education instruction based on the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), clinical and educational assessments, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Therapy, Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) technologies, Sensory Diet interventions and both individual and small group-based instruction and activities.

The center-based program hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Extended Day Programming will be offered from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. The BGC calendar is year-round with four two-week seasonal school breaks.

The founders recognize the gap of services available in the Charleston region for children with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. Beautiful Gate Center offers an alternative to traditional educational settings, which may not be appropriately equipped or staffed, to support the unique needs of the precious exceptional children in our communities.

As the first-of-its-kind program in South Carolina, Beautiful Gate offers the highest quality, evidence-based approach, where families will be able to access multiple therapy interventions in one location combined with goals for learning and development which is not only realistic, but a sustainable solution.

Providing families with the opportunity to recoup time, or save precious time, is vitally important for long term quality of life especially for single parents, homes with both parents working and families with multiple children.

As a 501c3 charitable non-profit organization, the primary objective of the Beautiful Gate Center is to provide children and families with options. It is necessary to operate a sustainable business model in order to provide the level of care and treatment which is necessary for appropriate care and developmental progress.

Our annual tuition rates and fees may be found on Admission and Fees page of our website.

Most major insurance plans are accepted for Speech, OT and ABA in our therapeutic clinic. Payment through insurance is not accepted for a placement in the center-based developmental learning program.

We are enrolling participants on a full-time, year-round basis. At this time, part-time options are not currently available.
